UNSORTED

BY WESLEY MIDDLETON

A fantastical theatre show for children and families about expressing yourself and feeling connected with others

Wesley Middleton’s Unsorted is a fantastical kids’ show, in which the Clothings are ordered to sort themselves out. In the playful, mixety world of the creatures known as Clothings, the militant Jacket is in charge and thinks everyone should be sorted into distinctly defined groups. The problem is, no one knows where to start. Skirt, Stove-Pipe, Sweater, Slacks and Swimsuit are all friends who want to play together, but if they don’t sort themselves and separate according to Jacket’s rules, they’ll all be banished.

“Unsorted encourages the ‘mixetyness’ in oneself and reinforces the right to always be loud and proud.”

Who is Jacket?

Jacket is in control of the world of the clothings and will do almost anything to maintain that control.

Military leader/school sports teacher, Jacket is your best friend until you step out of line.

Artemis on Jacket.

As a 5ft, curvy non-binary person it is very rare to be cast as a villain - especially one as masculine-coded as Jacket is.

Jacket is in many ways terrifying, so it’s an interesting balancing act to keep that terror alive in the reality of the world of the clothings whilst preserving the fun and colourful nature of the show experience for our young audiences.
